Roy Powell found his passion for racing in 1962 when he began Sidecar racing, competing at top level across the UK and at the Isle of Man TT. Roy and his son Gary founded Kestrel Kart in 1989 and Roy went on to lead and scale the race team and engine build business until 2010. Later Kestrel scaled back from trackside but continued as a manufacturer of specialist karting tools and products like the world renowned Kestrel 'Axel Drift'

Kestrel Kart has been fuelled by a relentless passion for racing that spans three generations of the Powell family.
Roy's sons Gary, Martyn & Chris all raced for many years at British Championship level. Chris' son Tristan now carries the baton.
Gary & Martyn have invested and reformed the Race team and Kart Distribution business. Kestrel is once again a professional trackside race team and distributer for Biesse Kart across UK and Eire.
Second Generation
Tristan Powell is our works driver and driver coach. Tristan competes in X30 at British / European and World Championship level and works as a professional SIM and trackside coach.
